Too Much Noise!
Dear friends,
I don't know about you, but it sure feels like it's been an insanely noisy few weeks, and the noise is resounding loudly in my brain, making it virtually impossible for me to think clearly or figure out anything coherent to share with you this week.
Listening to Heather Cox Richardson this week, I was stunned to hear her say that most Americans only think about politics for a measly FOUR minutes a week. Goddamn! I can't even imagine what it's like to get up for a pee in the middle of the night and not be mentally solving homelessness, saving democracy, fighting climate change, or setting the world right in general (hint: the answer is pretty much always TAX THE ULTRA RICH).
Between weeping tears of joy while watching videos of 2,000 Minnesotans sing to ICE agents holed up in Marriott Hotels, inviting these brutal thugs to quit their jobs and put down their weapons, and weeping tears of rage knowing that all those child rapists remain free and (for the most part) are still in positions of power, not to mention all the other rapid-fire emotional swings from the rapid-fire moments of mayhem happening, I'm struggling to focus on any one thing. I kinda feel that the last thing anyone needs right now is more people like me adding to the noise. I think I need to give us all a break this week. Probably next week won't be much quieter or easier, but I'll try to think of something useful to share with you.
In the meantime, I hope you are finding moments in nature, cuddling beloved pets, speaking up for justice, joining forces with others, engaging in community, hugging loved ones, finding joy, and eating good food.
May peace prevail for all,
Jessica (she/her)
